Furniture Shopping

We NEED living room furniture but to me, shopping for furniture is like shopping for a car. You want to love the look, color, the feel, leather, cloth and the price. You want the furniture to last and it is a commitment. I have a cream color sofa now and have had it for 12 or 13 years. It is still in really good shape. It is just really dirty. I thought about having it cleaned but what if it does not come clean.. There I have wasted that money. Then there are slip covers. I keep it covered up with a quilt now, which does not look bad but I am having to straighten it up ALL THE TIME. I do not want to straighten slip covers. I have been looking on IKEA to try and find the one that matches the sofa. I think I just need to go to the store.

Anyways, I love the look of neutrals but the thoughts of having leather and just wiping it off.  AHHH!
Every time I look, my eyes and my heart go to the cream and whites.
I do like the thoughts of a leather recliner.
But not one of those that is puffy.
Sleek and straight is more my style.

Oh this makes me smile.

Love this chair.

Jamie says you are going to have to go and look. I know, I know..............So many choices is very over-whelming.
I would LOVE to hear your thoughts.

Loving The Redo

Last year the goal was to redo the dining room and that was accomplished! I am enjoying everything about it. Now my desk area was tuff but finally I am very pleased with it.  I had 4 chairs with the table but that was a lot of chairs looking in the room. All you saw was chairs and it was a focal point that needed to go. Jamie is super awesome with wood work when he has time to do it. He made us a bench to replace 2 of the chairs and it is fantastic. The only thing that I would change now is the light fixture.

The piano area could use a little update because it has been that way for a while.  Hobby Lobby and T J Maxx is a great place to get odds and ends. ;-)

I was going to use a different color for my chairs but I already had an extra window treatment. So I just went with it.

This year is my living room. It is BLAH!!!

A Finshed Project!

Super duper excited to say, I finished a project!  I wanted a new memo board above my desk area. So I searched out on Pinterest a while back. This was going to be my first project to start and finish while Sophie Clare was a school.  I finally found what I wanted and located the window at my aunts. It did not have panes in it so my sweet dad fix that right up for me.

Here is is before.............
It is is after...........

I am pretty pleased how it turned out. Although, I am still not happy with the desk area. It seems way to cluttered. So I plan on having my dad or Jamie build me a shelf to go above it. Then add baskets to put my "junk" in. ;-)

I have another that I am working on but the painting it taking a while. I have had to enlist Jamie's help on it. I look forward to sharing it with you very soon! ;-)

Pallet Love

I totally rearrange my living room a couple of weeks ago. I do not live in a huge house so sometimes you have to get creative. I have lived her almost 15 years and can not believe I have not thought of this till now.  My living room and master bedroom is probably the only thing I would change about our house.  Although in the Winter time, cozy feels good.  I moved our sofa in front of our fireplace...............yes I covered it up and using the mantel as my shelf.  I found this old "small" pallet way behind our house a few months ago. I have had it back there and not even cleaned it.  Well I got a whim to clean it up and bring it in. I loved it on my mantel but did not love the tv beside it. WHY?? It weighted the room down. We still have the "old" tv and will have it till it dies.  haha

I am loving it! ;-)

Window Treatments = YAY!!

I am excited to announce that my windows treatments are finished, all for the exception of some ribbon to tie them back with.  That will not take anything but a trip to HL. I love how they turned out. I did not want your typical rods from Lowes. I wanted something a little unique and shabby chic.
We got the dowel rods at Marvins, Jamie cut them to size and I painted them black.

I bought the glass knobs for the ends at Hobby Lobby. They were 50% off so they were around 2.00 each I think.

I also bought the cross hooks from Hobby Lobby for 50% off. They were about 2.50 each.

As you can see I did not have Jamie bend the hooks for the rod to go all the way in there. Why?? Because you only notice it if you are up close and taking pics. :-)

I never knew that I would LOVE panels so much!

Loving The Gray

Finally the RED dining room is gone and the NEW GRAY is here!! I LOVE it so much even though there is still tons to do. I put just a few of the same things up  just to see how it was going to look. The room looks so clean.
Looks like I need to clean that mirror. :-)
I bought some new window treatments at Target and LOVE them. I still have to get the rod and hooks. I put it on a tension rod just to see how I was going to like it.

They were a good price I thought considering how much fabric is per yard.
$16.99

I still have to paint my dining room table and I really would like to have new chairs (we will see) I also have an green cabinet that we are moving out this weekend. The dining room acts as the dining room, office space, piano room and craft room.  It sometimes ends up being a catch all and that is what I am trying to move away from.
Here are a couple more pics from my phone.

So far my colors are black, gray and white but I do plan on adding some other colors.

Thank you Jamie for taking the time to paint the dining room!
You did a fabulous job!

DIY - Mod Podge

A couple of weeks a go I found a little inspiration from Pinterest. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a $2:00 wood wall plaque. I came home and painted it white. While it dried, I ran to church and made a copy of Sophie Clare's picture.  I cut it out and glued it to the piece of wood. After it dried, I painted it with my  mod podge.
TA-DA
I love how it turned out.
It has a few wrinkles but it just gives it a little character.

I plan on making a little collage area of different shapes and sizes!

My January Mantel

Good Evening to all!
We have had a day filled with playing, seeing my grandmother and getting my hair cut. Yesterday we celebrated Lukes birthday at the bouncy place and had lunch. We had a great time and I will share that a little later.
I thought I would share my mantel with you. My brother gave me this antique fan one year for my birthday. I  just love it but was not using it. I had put it in the attic for a while. I started looking for it the end of Summer and we could not find it anywhere. I knew it was up there but it is like a needle in a hay stack up there. When were putting up our Christmas, Jamie looked for it......Finally, he found it. I was so excited and I could not wait to decorate with it.
I love my vintage cameras!

The frame with Sophie Clare in it is plain jane.
I am going to have my mom paint a Bible verse on it.

I probably will leave it like this for a while.
 I really don't decorate for Valentine's day.
 DO YOU??
